WORCESTERSHIRE stormed to their first Specsavers County Championship win of the season after Matt Henry and Joe Leach demolished Leicestershire for 43 on day three at the Fischer County Ground.

Leicestershire began their second innings with a useful lead of 42 on what Worcestershire Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes had described as "a result wicket."

But Henry (4-27) and Leach (4-10) bowled unchanged and, aided by two run-outs from superb fielding, the Foxes were routed for their lowest ever tally against Worcestershire.

It was also the lowest score in the Championship since Essex were dismissed for 20 against Lancashire at Chelmsford three years ago.

Then an unbeaten 29 from Alexei Kervezee off just 17 balls powered Worcestershire to victory in double quick time at 3.15pm and a 21 points haul.

Leach had returned 0-82 after a disappointing performance with the ball on the first day but since the start of play on day two he has picked up nine wickets for 27 runs and his match analysis of 9-109 is his best ever return.

Worcestershire resumed on 249-8 and their last two wickets after a further priceless 25 runs.

Henry and Jack Shantry (10) extended their ninth wicket partnership to 46 before the latter fell at third slip off Ben Raine Henry picked up two boundaries off Raine but was left stranded on 49 not out as last man Charlie Morris was run out after slipping as the pair went for a second run.

Leicestershire immediately ran into trouble with the loss of three wickets in the opening three overs of their second innings.

Henry took the new ball and his third delivery was an outswinger which accounted for Paul Horton (2) who nicked to third slip.

Joe Leach shared the attack and he also broke through in his first over as Neil Dexter (0) was caught by Brett D'Oliveira at point after the ball hit the shoulder of the bat.

It became 4-3 when Henry bowled Mark Cosgrove for a duck after he drove at an inswinger.

Ross Whiteley then produced a fine piece of fielding after Angus Robson had fended a Henry delivery just short of him at wide gulley.

The England Lions player reacted quickly and his direct hit ran out Mark Pettini (7) who was stranded short of his ground.

It became 15-5 when Robson (2) was trapped lbw by Leach when pinned back on the stumps.

D'Oliveira then got in on the act with a direct hit from point which knocked out the middle stump to run out Aadil Ali (2) after Niall O'Brien had called him through for a single to leave Leicestershire on 26-6.

Four runs later Leach secured his 22nd Championship wicket of the campaign as Tom Wells (0) became another lbw victim.

Mitchell kept his opening pair going and Henry picked up his third wicket after Raine (1) thin edged through to keeper Ben Cox to leave the home side on 31-8.

Leicestershire reached lunch on 40-8 but the innings was quickly polished off on the resumption.

Niall O'Brien (17) was caught at third slip off Leach and then Clint McKay (6) was bowled by Leach.

Worcestershire skipper Daryl Mitchell went out with positive intentions and made a quickfire 18 out of 22 before edging an away swinger from McKay to keeper O'Brien.

Ross Whiteley was promoted to number three but after making four he holed out at mid on to give McKay his second wicket with the total 38-2.

Brett D'Oliveira (20) was then a victim of the O'Brien-McKay combination.

Kervezee helped Worcestershire towards their modest target with successive boundaries off Shreck.

An inside edge which flew for four off the same bowler sealed a superb victory for Worcestershire.
