STEVE Rhodes will use Worcestershire's week without cricket to allow his players to recharge their batteries but also to work on hone their skills before a return to Royal London One-Day Cup action late this month.

Last Friday evening's NatWest T20 Blast clash against Birmingham Bears was the climax of a concentrated period of cricket in all formats of the game.

Now the squad have no competitive action until Friday's final T20 Blast game away to Derbyshire Falcons.

That clash is followed by four successive games in the One-Day Cup either side of the two-day tour game with Pakistan.

Rhodes said: "We've been on the go for a long time now and winning in the three days at Northampton (in the Specsavers County Championship) was really good as well.

"It just meant another couple of days’ breather before Friday's game.

"I'm pretty sure some of the lads will still be in to do some work but it won't be as a squad. It will be individual and optional work.

"Although there will be days off, there will be optional sessions available and it is a good time to revisit some of the skill work we've done.

"We have definitely seen some progress in the drill work we've been doing and we want to keep that going.

"I've been doing a lot of work specific for 50 overs cricket and we are in a really good position to challenge in that competition so we certainly won't stop and we will keep those sessions going."
