WORCESTERSHIRE academy player Josh Haynes turned in a remarkable bowling performance for the County Under-17 side in a County Championship match with Devon at Exmouth.

Haynes returned the superb figures of 9.1-7-5-7 in Devon's second innings as they were routed for 50 as Worcestershire triumphed by 239 runs.

Five of his victimes were clean bowled, one stumped and the other lbw.

He had also been in good form with the bat in Worcestershire's first innings, scoring 53 and there were other half centuries from Jujhar Johal (77), Connor Dudley (58) and Billy Cox (54 not out) in a total of 304-7 declared.

Cox impressed with the ball as Devon were dismissed for 212, taking 4-31 from 12.5 overs, and then Josh's brother, Jack Haynes, top-scored with 74 as Worcestershire reached 197-9 and set a 290 target.

That proved out of reach for the home side after Josh Haynes' magnificent efforts with the ball.

Josh had also been among the wickets for the Under-17s in an eight-wicket win over Gloucestershire at Barnt Green in the County Cup.

He finished with 5-15 from 9.4 overs as Gloucestershire were bowled out for 99 in 32.4 overs.

Then Jack Haynes helped Worcestershire to victory with an unbeaten 60.
