JOE Clarke has been included in the England Lions squad for the four-day and one-day series against Sri Lanka A in February and March.

The Worcestershire batsman is one of 10 players selected for both sections of the five week tour.

Clarke was part of the Lions side which enjoyed a 100% success rate in three ODIs against the UAE in Dubai and the four-day match with Afghanistan in Abu Dhabi.

The Sri Lankan tour will include two four-day games and five one-day matches.

The 20-year-old has experienced mixed fortunes in the UAE during the past two weeks.

He had a top score of 42 in the third ODI against UAE - in which he also kept wicket - but managed only 0 and 1 in the Afghanistan clash.

Opening batsman Keaton Jennings will lead the Lions for the four-day and one-day matches.

The Durham player, who joined a select band to score a century on Test debut in Mumbai last week after being called from the Lions camp in Dubai to replace the injured Haseeb Hameed in the England squad, will be joined in Sri Lanka by both Hameed and Ben Duckett.

Hameed has been included in a 15-man squad for the first section, which is due to include while Duckett is in a separate 14-man squad for the 50-over series.

The 10 players included for both sections are Jennings, Tom Alsop, Clarke, Liam Livingstone, Ben Foakes, Sam Curran, Tom Curran, Ollie Rayner, Craig Overton and Tom Helm.

Hameed, Nick Gubbins, Tom Westley, Toby Roland-Jones and Jack Leach have been selected for the first part of the tour, with Duckett, Daniel Bell-Drummond, James Fuller and Josh Poysden coming in for the 50-over series.

James Whitaker, the National Selector who watched the Lions beat Afghanistan in an historic first-class match in Abu Dhabi last week, said: “The Lions play such an important role in bridging the gap between county and international cricket.

"After a successful training camp in the UAE culminating in an excellent win against Afghanistan, this tour of Sri Lanka is a great opportunity for the players to gain experience of playing on the subcontinent."

Details of the fixtures have still to be finalised with Sri Lanka Cricket, but will be published as soon as possible.
