WORCESTERSHIRE Academy showed fighting qualities before earning a draw from the Tri-Series encounter with Leicestershire at Bromsgrove.

The visitors looked to be on top at times but the County refused to buckle.

They set Leicestershire a target of 256 in a minimum of 42 overs and after an innings of see-sawing fortunes they closed on 240-8.

Worcestershire recovered on day two with the ball to restrict Leicestershire’s first-innings advantage to 88.

Then their second-wicket pair of Callum Lea (110) and Dan Holland (44) put on 127.

There was a mid-innings wobble when three wickets fell for 15 runs and at 185-5 the lead was only 97.

But the middle and lower order rallied with Pete Clark (28) and Riecko Parker-Cole (33) adding 64.

Lewis Evans (29 not out) and Ed Bragg (37no) put on 64 unbroken for the ninth wicket before the declaration.

Leicestershire's Ashish Trusz and Butchart (53) amassed 119 for the first wicket.

At 169-1 they looked well in control only for Worcestershire to fight back again.

Trusz was run out for 86 and Matt Davis picked up two quick wickets.

Harry Funnell ended on 40no as Parker-Cole took 3-43 and Davis 2-42.
