THOUSANDS of people turned out for this year’s annual Armed Forces Day celebrations held at Himley Hall and Park.
The free event, which took place earlier today (Sunday June 25), included All About Swing dance taster sessions, a craft fair, vintage fairground rides, musical performances from Suzi Wood and Got2Sing Choir as well as activities including a climbing wall, archery and Punch & Judy show.
There was a vintage military vehicle display at the event, run by Dudley Council, plus military stands from the Army, RAF and sea cadets and reserve units including HMS Forward, the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers and the Royal Engineers and the Royal Yeomanry.
The Mayor of Dudley and Deputy Lieutenant Richard Boot OBE also presented former and current armed forces personnel with their HM Armed Forces Badges.
Councillor Andrea Goddard, the Mayor of Dudley, said: "It was a real honour to take part in today’s celebrations and pay tribute to those who have served our country.
"Families enjoyed the entertainment, stalls, activities and performances which were laid on free of charge.
"While the day might be a great summer’s day out it also allows us to bring our communities together to find out more about the work of our armed forces and show our respect to those who have served or continue to serve."
