Whilst restoration of the existing dwelling is not ruled out, this proposal to demolish the existing and construct a new dwelling fits better with the modern expectations and achieves at least current building standards. The intention of the design is to be sympathetic to the existing dwelling and has been designed with a similar ridge height to the existing. The west elevation facing the road has been designed to be simple in appearance with a main entrance and four principal rooms overlooking the road. Large glazed screens achieve a good quality of light into the habitable rooms.

The house has been designed to follow the level change across the site, and so incorporates various split floor levels inside. The barns to the east of the house will be demolished and a new double garage designed to match the barns is planned in its place. A new gateway entrance is proposed so that the house and barns can be given separate vehicular access to define each properties boundary.
