STOURBRIDGE Theatre Company will welcome their Australian counterparts to the town hall for a special performance next week.

The Nuworks Theatre Company, based in Melbourne, are returning to Stourbridge after three years away as part of their UK and Germany tour.

On Wednesday (October 4), Nuworks will present their adaptations of Snow White followed by Romeo and Juliet at Stourbridge Town Hall from 7.30pm.

Snow White has undergone a musical adaptation by the group while stating faithful to the original in most respects – there’s still the Wicked Queen, some dwarves, a poisoned apple and a Happy Ever After ending.

Nuworks’ adaptation of Romeo and Juliet process and piece of theatre that will appeal to young and old alike, complemented with a number of contemporary sings from Pink, Coldplay and Muse.

A spokesman for STC said: “When the group visited us three years ago as part of their UK tour and amazed the audience with their production.

“Laura Cox, one of our members, cannot wait to welcome them and is really looking forward to the visit, because although she’s from Stourbridge, she actually lived in Melbourne for five years.

“No doubt the accents will revive many memories.”
