DUDLEY thespians are getting set to bring to life a theatrical and emotional tale about life and marriage.

For its March production Dudley Little Theatre will be presenting Lovesong by Abi Morgan, who authored hit television drama The Split.

The play charts the life of married couple Billy and Maggie - depicting the pair as they are now in their 60s and 70s and looking back to the time they were newlyweds in their late 20s.

Presented mostly through the reminiscences of the older man Billy - the production is a piece of non-naturalistic theatre, combining music and semi-balletic dance movement and using two pairs of actors, and sees the couple's young and older selves intertwine continuously and seamlessly as they occupy the same stage space at different times.

A spokesman for the company said: "The play is beautiful to watch and the emotion it evokes is staggering.

"The four actors who make up the cast have worked exceptionally hard throughout extended rehearsals to bring this unique piece of pure theatre to life on stage."

Lovesong will be performed at Netherton Arts Centre, Northfield Road, from Wednesday March 13 to Saturday March 16. Performances start at 7.30pm, with doors and the licensed bar opening at 7pm.

Tickets cost £9 (£8 concessions) and are available online from Dudley Little Theatre’s website at dudleylittletheatre.org, or on the door on the night.

They can also be reserved by calling 01384 872583, 07582 318017 or 07954 424555.
