LONG-RUNNING Stourbridge band Amoeba Teen have sealed a record deal with New Jersey-based Kool Kat Musik.

The four-piece indie pop and alternative country influenced outfit hope the deal will help get their music out to a wider audience.

Singer and guitarist Mark Britton said: “Our American fanbase has grown rapidly over the last few months, so it made sense for us to try and do more to get our music heard over there.

"Kool Kat Musik approached us after some favourable US reviews, and we were very impressed with their plans to raise our profile both there and beyond.”

Kool Kat Musik’s president Ray Gianchetti said: “Kool Kat Musik has focused on the power pop and alternative country genres for over 20 years. Amoeba Teen are a great fit for the label and should be well-received by our customers."

While there are no immediate plans for a tour across the pond, Amoeba Teen will be appearing again at this year’s International Pop Overthrow festival at Liverpool's Cavern Club on Saturday May 19.

The global festival reaches much of the US but takes a detour to the birthplace of the original 1960s British Invasion.

Mark and fellow lead singer Mike Turner founded Amoeba Teen 20 years ago and the band has been rocking on and off ever since - with the help of bass player Simon Muttitt and drummer Carl Bayliss.

Now, as they celebrate their record deal in their 20th anniversary year, they are stronger than ever.

The start of the year saw them release their first professional, director-led music video - created by musician and music video man Nick J Townsend - to accompany their new single  (Coming On) Stronger which is expected to feature on their forthcoming album - set for release later in the year.

Inspired by the films of Stanley Kubrick - the flamboyant video has notched up more than 10,000 views on social media and Mark said: "It's gone far and wide. We were thrilled with it."

The band will be playing at Claptrap on Thursday June 21 in a double bill with The Long Goodbye.

They are also gearing up to see their two previously released albums Selection Box and The Appleyard Sessions released as a remastered double bill in the US.
