Film crews have once again chosen Llandudno as the ideal location for shooting scenes in their latest films/shows.

More than a month after Eddie Izzard and film crews came to Llandudno to shoot scenes for his latest movie, Six Minutes to Midnight, more have arrived to use the coastal town as a backdrop to shoot certain scenes

Two lots of crews will be using Llandudno as a backdrop for filming this week.

Filming for a show called Annie took place earlier this week, with the show set to focus on the Hillsborough disaster, which saw 96 Liverpool fans killed in an FA Cup semi final match.

While filming will begin today on a medical drama, which will feature Sian Reese-Williams - who starred as DI Cadi Jones in the recent BBC drama Hidden, which was filmed on Anglesey - playing the lead role.

The West Shore Beach Cafe shared the news of the film crews' arrival on Facebook on Sunday.

Talking to the Pioneer, cafe owner, Kevin Rice, said: "A lot of the film crew came in for breakfast. We didn’t get a title (for the medical drama) - I did ask the location manager when he called in a couple of weeks ago but he wasn’t sure.

"He did tell me it’s a medical drama with Sian Reese Williams as lead character.

"The other is about Hillsborough and it’s called Annie. Two in a week can’t be bad eh?"

The West Shore cafe has had a busy few months with the film crews setting up camp right at their front door.

Mr Rice said it had created "a real buzz" for both staff and the customers.

He said: "It’s great to have the film crews coming down, it creates a real buzz within the cafe for ourselves and the customers - many of them have been asking us what’s going on?

"When Eddie Izzard was here he was really friendly and he called all the team here to have a selfie with him. It really made our day.

"On the bigger picture it’s great that Llandudno is getting so much exposure, we’ll always make them welcome so hopefully they’ll keep coming."

Llandudno mayor, councillor David Hawkins, said it was people like Mr Rice and his staff at the West Shore Beach Cafe, as well as the stunning scenery, that kept film crews coming back to the area.

Cllr Hawkins said: "Llandudno is a prime location for filming with its stunning views and the Victorian look of the town it really is an excellent place for them.

"I think the friendliness of the town also plays a big part in it all.

"They are more than welcome to come here and we are very much in favour of it all.

"It is exciting for the town and with everything else that goes on it shows Llandudno as a vibrant and thriving place to be."

This will be the third film crew in as many months to use the Conwy county for scenes in their latest movie or television show.

As well as Eddie Izzard - in Llandudno for scenes for Six Minutes to Midnight - Colin Firth and Julie Walters were in Bodnant Gardens recently filming part of a remake of the Secret Garden.
