THE musical heritage inspired by the Papacy through the extraordinary stories and choral works of Italy’s greatest Renaissance church composers will be explored by the Armonico Consort in a concert at Malvern’s Forum Theatre.
Under the title of Land of Pope and Glory the group will be joined by guest narrators as they reveal fascinating tales of incredible leadership and faithfulness, balanced with those as hilariously absurd as they are shocking!
They will also be joined by the English Cornett and Sackbut Ensemble, while groups of choirs and soloists will be placed around the variety of venues illustrating the stories with music from the greatest Italian church composers including Allegri, Gabrieli and Monteverdi.
The musical programme includes: Allegri Miserere Mei, Gabrieli In Ecclesiis, Monteverdi Lauda Jerusalem and Magnificat Vespers of 1610 and Palestrina Tu es Petrus.
The narrator at Malvern, when the concert is held on October 4, will be the popular and well known actor, Timothy West.
