YOUNG growers at a Cradley school proved they know their onions to win a prize at a top regional gardening show.
Caslon Primary School’s gardening club members scooped a coveted second place rosette at the Malvern Autumn Show with their vegetable hamper.
The pupils have their own allotment at the Beeches View Avenue school where they grow a variety of vegetables with help from Cradley Gardening Club chairman Mick Poultney.
Headteacher Adrian Pembleton said: “To enter and win a prize in a county show is a huge achievement.
“Growing vegetables is incredibly important with the new curriculum starting in 2014 in which it is a specific aspect. It also fits in with our healthy eating campaign and it’s fun.”
The hamper will take pride of place in the school’s harvest festival display.
