THE UKIP candidate at the centre of a Twitter kinky photo storm has described the controversy as “a smear attack on my good name”.

Parliamentary candidate Dean Perks, who landed himself in hot water earlier this year by calling for criminals to have their hands chopped off, posted a picture of a naked woman leading an undressed man by his genitals onto his Twitter page.

Labour Warley MP John Spellar took exception to the naked snap and called for UKIP bosses to reprimand Mr Perks.

He said: “More and more UKIP candidates are being exposed as extremists and oddballs.

“What is Nigel Farage going to do about this increasingly embarrassing candidate?”

However, Mr Perks, who recently donated a bingo machine to Halesowen Age Concern, laughed off Mr Spellar’s attack saying the veteran Black Country MP was “obsessed” with him.

He said: “This is playground politics at its best and just tells me they are worried.

“There is no such thing as bad publicity and they show themselves to be pathetic.”

He added: “On reflection of the latest smear attack on my good name I challenge any politician from any party to public debate.

“I would like to know what any of our local MP's have achieved since 2010? And what our local council have achieved since taking control in 2012?”

Mr Perks posted the kinky picture as part of an ongoing conversation with his friend and said he was sorry if it caused any offence and should have been sent as a direct message.

A spokesman for UKIP said: “This is just two blokes taking the Mickey out of each other. We’re not getting upset about this.”

Mr Perks will be fighting the Conservative incumbent James Morris for the Halesowen and Rowley Regis seat in the 2015 General Election as well as Labour’s Stephanie Peacock.
