AN OLDBURY chippy has battered opposition from across the country to win big at the National Fish and Chip Awards.
Chamberlains, on the junction of Hagley Road and Wolverhampton Road, won the National Federation of Fish Friers Fish and Chip Quality Award.
The awards, known as the ‘Oscars’ of the fish frying world, were held at a glittering ceremony at London's Lancaster Hotel.
Mark Drummond, vice president of the NFFF said: “It’s great to see so many inventive ideas and enthusiasm and such passion for the fish and chip industry, demonstrated by all the entrants to this competition.
“Simon Shaw at Chamberlains has put so much enthusiasm into promoting his shop and the significance of holding the Quality Award. He added: "They have successfully increased business levels, expanded their customer base and improved staff motivation without the benefit of a huge marketing budget.
"We would like to congratulate them on their well-earned success and Chamberlains now becomes an ambassador for the Quality Award for the coming year.”
