A Blackheath church congregation is preparing to say goodbye to its much-loved curate.
Reverend Smitha Prasadam is leaving St Paul's Parish Church to take over responsibility of St Paul's, Hampstead, in the Diocese of Birmingham.
The curate, who has been at the church for three and a half years, has made a profound impression upon the church and community.
Reverend Mike Sermon, vicar of St Paul's, said: "She has been instrumental in forging links with the community and local schools, organising special services for them as well as for the church.
"She will be missed by all as she has played a big role in everybody's lives."
Smitha will be moving to Birmingham alongside her husband Peter and daughter Esther.
Smitha said: "Three and a half years has flown by here.
"It has been the most wonderful experience.
"I have learnt so much about the Black Country, it is an amazing place to be.
"I have mixed feelings about going - I am nervous but also excited."
Rev Sermon said: "The way Smitha has been allowed to flourish during this period and her subsequent appointment to a new parish reflects well on the people of Blackheath and confirms once again that this is a good place to come and train."
Her last service, which will be a service of thanksgiving for Smitha and her family, will be on Sunday January 28 at 10am followed by a party in the church hall where all are welcome.
A new curate will be welcomed to the parish in the summer when Ann Simmons moves to Blackheath to continue in Smitha's footsteps.
