TRICKY maths topics have been summed up in a new way to change how Halesowen pupils learn.

Tenterfields Primary School, Tenterfields, is among five Halesowen schools to take part in a new £500k national programme called Maths Flip, which enables pupils to identify where they need to put in more work.

The project was led by Shireland Collegiate Academy in Smethwick and funded by the Education Endowment Foundation.

Tenterfields teacher, Dan Wade, said: "A successful partnership with Shirelands High School has enabled our children to develop their mathematical knowledge further this year.

“They have had the opportunity to review, assess and evaluate their prior learning in mathematical concepts, before consolidating and progressing further.

“We were able to identify areas of strengths and weaknesses, therefore providing a more personalised learning journey.

“We have fully adopted this approach and have now started to employ its ethos within all areas of the curriculum.”
