Pupils at a Rowley Regis school turned journalists for the day as they produced their own newspaper.
The children at Springfield Primary School entered the competition, run by The Times Educational Supplement, to complete a newspaper. They worked to a tight deadline as the paper had to be completed in one day.
Throughout the day they had to make their own editorial decisions regarding the topics they wished to cover and how they wanted to present them to suit the style of the paper.
Pupils wrote the Springfield Express and covered stories such as Should Heelys be banned?', Did Heather Mills-McCartney make a mistake wearing fur then campaigning against it?', New school replaces old crumbling building' and Should playtime be part of children's PE entitlement?' Assistant Headteacher, Rebecca Cox said: "It was a great day, enjoyed by all. We are now keeping our fingers crossed we may win a first time entrants' award!"
