CRICKETERS were bowled over when their Halesowen club was awarded a grant new sight screens.
Coombs Wood Cricket Club bought the £3,000 screens with funding from the Halesowen North and South Community Forum.
Grateful club chairman Nigel Cannon said: “As a non-profit making club this type of funding is essential to us being able to continue our promotion of growing grass roots cricket within the local community.
“We are currently striving to build and improve recreational cricket for all age groups and to promote ladies cricket within the area."
Forum chairman Cllr Karen Shakespeare and deputy chairman Cllr Alan Taylor visited the club to see the new screens in place.
Cllr Shakespeare said: "I was delighted to see the screens in action and it was great to meet members of all ages who are enjoying fitness and cricket at the club, which is in such a beautiful setting."
The councillors are encouraging other community groups to put applications forward for small grants from the forum to enhance what they do.
