A SERVICE aimed at keeping older and vulnerable people safe and well in their homes, will be out and about in Hurst Green, Halesowen later this month.

The living well, feeling safe service provides practical safety, security and wellbeing advice and help for older and vulnerable people.

Staff from the service will be out and about visiting properties in and around Hurst Green, for three days from Tuesday June 28.

Free home assessments will be on offer where advice, tips and practical help will be provided on home safety and security, as well as on keeping comfortable, independent and well.

The service is a partnership of agencies including Dudley Council, Age UK, West Midlands Police, Victim Support and West Midlands Fire Service.

A spokesman said home safety and security equipment can be fitted and home and personal alarms will be offered.

A drop in information day will also be held at Hurst Green Methodist Church, Narrow Lane, from 10am until 3pm next Thursday (June 30).

Councillor Qadar Zada, cabinet lead for adult social care Dudley Council, said: “The living well, feeling safe service is ideal for any older or vulnerable person or couple who are feeling isolated or in need of extra support at home, or for people who are simply concerned about safety or security in the home.

“I’d encourage Halesowen residents to take up the offer of a free home assessment, but it’s important to stress that this service is available to people across Dudley borough, so if you know anyone who could benefit then please contact the service directly.”

Home visits are available on request and the service can be contacted on 01384 817743.
