A LOVESTRUCK Kidderminster man popped the question to his girlfriend live on a Halesowen-based online casino’s Facebook page.

Rhys Green went down on one knee outside Kidderminster Town Hall last month and asked Hannah Tolley to marry him.

But the happy occasion only happened after mFortune casino shared an appeal from Hannah asking for help to complete a challenge Rhys had set her.

He had told his girlfriend he’d ask her to marry him if she could get 200 ‘likes’ on a Facebook post, prompting Hannah to enlist the help of family and friends.

After only attracting 34 likes, she asked mFortune for help and the Halesowen business shared their story with their 40,000 Facebook followers.

She soon hit her 200 target, only to find Rhys raising the required number to 500! But people from around the world soon helped her hit that target.

A man of his word, nervous Rhys got down on one knee in Kidderminster town centre and popped the question to his girlfriend.

And the couple live-streamed the whole thing via the mFortune Casino Facebook Page. Hundreds watched the proposal live and nearly 10,000 have watched the video since.

People from all over the UK tuned in to watch the broadcast with people from Blackpool, Cornwall, Edinburgh and Coventry cheered on the happy couple.

As he makes his way to Kidderminster town centre, Rhys tells viewers: "I didn't think this would happen so soon. I'm a bit nervous at the moment."

After Hannah accepted his proposal, Rhys thanks mFortune and the fans who supported the appeal. He added: "They have made me and her both really happy and grateful about it all."

A spokesman for mFortune said even one person from Australia shared the post to help boost the likes.

He added: “The couple then headed to Costa Coffee to toast their engagement, before popping to Asda to do their shopping. What a down-to-earth couple!

“The happy couple are said to be planning their nuptials for summer 2017, let’s hope we can tune in to those on Facebook too. Congratulations guys!”
