A RENOWNED organist, who had her first lessons on the organ at Halesowen Parish Church, will return to play at Saturday’s coffee concert.
Francesca Massey is now sub-organist at Durham Cathedral and regularly accompanies the cathedral choir in concerts, tours, broadcasts and recordings.
She was born and educated in Halesowen and Birmingham and as well as having organ lessons, sang in the girls’ choir at St John the Baptist Church.
Francesca went onto Cambridge University and the Royal Northern College of Music, since when she has held a number of organ scholarships, been assistant organist at Great St Mary's Church, Cambridge and assistant director of music at Peterborough Cathedral.
Her debut solo disc entitled Bravura! received excellent reviews and was Editor’s Choice in Organists’ Review.
Francesca performs regularly as a recitalist throughout the UK and can be heard at St John’s at 10.15am. Coffee will be served after the concert and tickets, priced £5, will be available on the door.
