A HULA-HOOP dance and fitness school in Oldbury has been named in Small Business Saturday top 100 for 2016

Spinsonic Entertainment will be on of 100 small businesses celebrated by Small Business Saturday, the campaign that culminates in the UK’s dedicated day for small businesses on December 3.

Rachel Conlisk, owner of Spinsonic Entertainment and a hula-hoop performer and teacher, teaches classes to adults and family classes, but specialises in taking hoop fitness and fun classes those have barriers to reaching regular exercise classes, whether through physical, psychological or mental health difficulties.

She runs workshops and classes for adults with learning disabilities and mobility problems for Sandwell Council, Birmingham MIND, schools and the Deaf Cultural Association.

She said: “She also told me that if I made hoops, people usually bought one after a class.

"I had never taught before, and didn't know how to make hoops, but said yes. She gave me a crash course in teaching and I taught myself how to make hoops."

She added: "I perform at clubs, festivals, community events, parties, and do street entertainment. I now also sell a range of hula hoop vests that I designed myself, hoop costume items and belly dancing accessories.”
