STAR-struck youngsters are being given the chance to tread the boards with the launch of a junior section of the recently-opened Halesowen Youth Theatre.

Boys and girls, aged four to 10, are being offered theatrical training and experience in all areas of performance at weekly sessions from Wednesday October 5.

Co-founder and co-director of the youth theatre Ben Pountney said: “I came into a youth theatre at the back end of my teenage years and, whilst still learning a lot, I know that if I had started between the age of four to10, then I know I would have developed so much more as a performer and as a lover of theatre in general.”

The weekly sessions at Greenhill Centre, Long Lane, will focus on acting, singing and dance workshops and rehearsing for shows from 6.30pm until 7.30pm.

Youth theatre rehearsals and training for 11 to 18-year-olds is also on Wednesdays at the centre from 7pm until 8.30pm.

Mr Pountney said it was a non-profit organisation and charges of £4 for the youth section and £3.50 for juniors will go towards the cost of shows, trips and events.
