A CRADLEY Heath pupil has been celebrated after going to extra mile to help out at her school during her free time.

Corngreaves Primary Academy’s Thea Lowe was recognised with a special honour at United Learning’s national ‘Best in Everyone’ Primary School Awards.

Thea won the ‘School Ambassador of the Year’ award for the significant contribution she has made.

Among the extra work she does, the school’s newly appointed head girl attends every parent consultation day to greet parents and escorting them to where they need to be and every lunch time she gives up her time to assist the dinner staff with lunch.

The school’s headteacher Michelle Green was also honoured with the School Leader of the Year Award.

Michelle said: “Everyone at Corngreaves is thrilled for Thea and we all congratulate her on receiving this special award. She is always willing to help teachers and pupils in whatever way she can and welcomes our visitors with a friendly face whenever they visit.

“I can rely on Thea to complete any given task and I know she will do so to a very high standard and with a smile. Thea is not only a credit to our school but a credit to herself.

“I am incredibly honoured to have been a part of her primary life and I really do believe that she will go on to be a school ambassador of her secondary school.

“She is a special individual, capable of extraordinary things. She is a true example of how leadership can really be in every role.”

Thea and Michelle received their awards during a ceremony at the House of Lords, while beforehand they pair joined the other award winners for a ride on an open-top bus where they took in the London sights.

Thea added: "The awards were an amazing experience and I could not have done it without the help and support of the staff at Corngreaves. Thank you Miss Green for nominating me.”
