A PAY and display car park in Old Hill is set to be leased to The Regis conference and banqueting suite.
Sandwell Council’s land and asset management committee, which meets on Thursday, September 14, is recommended to authorise a 25-year lease of the Haden Road car park – which the council deemed to be ‘not financially viable’ to keep open.
In 2015, the council’s cabinet agreed that the authority no longer needed the car park and should be free to lease it to nearby businesses.
Councillor Paul Moore, the council’s cabinet member for regeneration and economic investment, said: “Although it’s not financially viable for the council to keep this car park open, this proposal would allow The Regis to provide parking for customers, which helps to support a local business.”
Under the lease, The Regis would be responsible for repairs and maintenance of the car park.
