THE jury tasked with deciding the fate of murder accused Niron Parker-Lee have failed to reach a verdict.

Parker-Lee was charged with murdering 24-year-old Mansoor Mahmood in Brierley Hill High Street on October 15, 2016, he denied the charge.

Despite the best efforts of medics, Mr Mahmood, a father-of-two, died at Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital as a result of the single stab wound.

Judge Simon Drew QC told the four woman, eight man jury that he would accept a majority verdict if they could not agree.

However they were still unable to reach a verdict and were discharged at around 3.40pm on February 13.

Parker-Lee, aged 20, of Blewitt Street, Pensnett, has been remanded in custody until the case is retried at Birmingham Crown Court.

The judge told the jury not to be disappointed that they failed to agree, adding: “Thank you for the time you have taken to consider this case.”

A provisional date has been set for July 16.
