VOLUNTEERS who want to make a difference by supporting their local libraries are being urged to join the friends groups.
Sandwell Council’s Rowley Town Libraries service currently have two friends groups operating at their bases, a combined one at Cradley Heath and Blackheath libraries and another at Oakham Library.
Leaders at the library service are now launching a recruitment campaign to find anyone who would like to work in the community and join the existing groups.
The role of the friends group include acting as ambassadors for the library service, promoting and supporting the local library, fundraise, and providing ideas for events.
Friends are also asked to act as a link between the library service and the wider community, support a programme of children and adult events and open days, provide volunteer support and attend the group meetings.
The libraries also have volunteer roles available for people who want to support major events, as well as lend digital support.
For more information about the friends groups, or how to join, call Blackheath Library on 0121 559 1884, or email blackheath_library@sandwell.gov.uk.
