THERE are just a few days remaining for residents across Dudley borough to make sure they are registered to vote in the local elections next month.

Voters will be heading to the polls on May 3 to elect councillors, but people need to make sure they are registered by Tuesday (April 17) or they will not be able to vote.

Sarah Norman, chief executive and electoral returning officer at Dudley Council, said: “Registering to vote is essential if people want to have their say in how local services are provided for them. It really is very quick and simple to do and ensures people have their say in what goes on.”

Residents can also register to vote by post, which has to be done by 5pm on Wednesday (April 18).

Those wanting to vote by proxy need to register by 5pm on Wednesday, April 25.

People can register online at www.gov.uk/registertovote or by contacting the Elections Office on 01384 814740. Date of birth and national insurance number will be needed to complete the registration.
