THIS year marks the 800th anniversary of the opening of Halesowen’s historic Abbey.
The first canons came to live at the Abbey – situated just off Manor Way – in 1218, having a significant impact on the surrounding community for 320 years.
This was until the dissolution of the town landmark in 1538 under King Henry VIII.
To commemorate the significant date in the town’s heritage, Margaret Bradley will give an illustrated talk entitled ‘Halesowen Abbey and the Manor of Cradley (1218-1538)’.
Margaret will be speaking at Overend Methodist Mission, in Banners Lane, Cradley, on Thursday, June 21. All are welcome to attend the free event, which starts at 7.30pm.
