A CHARITABLE Rowley Regis youngster has raised hundreds of pounds in support of the charity which helped his grandfather before he died.

Five-year-old Dexter Roberts completed the annual Pound the Bounds event in May, raising a fantastic total of £600 in aid of Midlands Air Ambulance Charity.

The charity is close to the Blackheath Primary School pupil’s heart after his grandad was treated by an air ambulance crew after falling off the roof of their house.

Although they could not save his life, the crew enabled the whole family to say goodbye at hospital before his life support was switched off.

Following his fundraising efforts – which saw Dexter walk three miles around Rock, in Worcestershire – the youngster had the privilege of meeting some of the crew during a visit to the air ambulance’s’ base in Strensham.

His mother Katie Roberts said: “I am very proud of the amount he raised and him completing the three mile walk, and would like to thank everyone for their kind donations.”

Since his visit, Dexter said he wants to be an air ambulance paramedic when he is older.
