A WEEK of activities to celebrate everything good about Cradley is set to kick off with a ‘Songs of Praise’ this weekend.

To mark the beginning of Cradley Week 2018, St Peter’s Church is inviting the community to join in with singing some rousing hymns and songs accompanied by the church’s newly restored organ.

Hymns will be chosen by the different churches and chapels in Cradley, with the service – which starts at 2.30pm on Saturday (July 7) and is open to everyone – being followed by refreshments.

During the event, a raffle will take place to raise funds for the Heritage Clock Project which is hoping to install clock dial saved from St Luke’s Church in Cradley Heath onto the tower at St Peter’s.

Other events taking place during Cradley Week include Cradley CofE Primary School’s summer fair on Friday (July 6) and a history talk about glass blowing at High Town Ragged School from 7.30pm on Monday (July 9).

St Peter’s Church will be hosting a family fun day and summer fair from 10am until 2pm on Saturday, July 14, while Caslon Primary School hold a fete from noon until 3pm on the same day.

Providence Church, in Beetle Drive, is holding a fish and chip supper – costing £5 – from 5pm on July 14, before a Black Country service is held at 6pm on Sunday, July 15, at Overend Methodist Church.
