A ROWLEY Regis construction project has won a top prize at the West Midlands Regional Building Excellence Awards for high quality housing developments.

The Countryside Properties’ development in Doulton Road was named the winner in the ‘Best Large Housing Development’ category after being nominated by Sandwell Council's Building Control team.

The project will now go forward to be judged for the national ‘Grand Final’ awards on November 9 in London, against the other regions’ winners in this category.

Rob Bailey, the council’s lead building control surveyor for Doulton Road and Calvin Bradley, building consultancy manager, attended the event to support the Countryside Properties team.

Graham Mills, site manager of the Claypit Lane development in West Bromwich, was nominated in the ‘Best Residential Construction Professional’ category.

Councillor Kerrie Carmichael, Sandwell Council’s cabinet member for housing, said: “It is very pleasing that two important schemes in Sandwell gained recognition and we wish the winners well for their appearance in the grand finals.

“This was a significant result as the residential category had dozens of entries, taking in the whole West Midland conurbation, as well as Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Shropshire.”
