A FORMER Halesowen fashion student is celebrating her success after reaching the final of a national competition and showing her collection at Graduate Fashion Week in London.

Rachel Comrie, who specialises in womenswear, was nominated for a ‘TU’ scholarship with Sainsbury’s, with her fashionable designs making it through to the final.

The ex-Halesowen College pupil also exhibited her work at Graduate Fashion Week in London after recently graduating with a 2:1 from Bath Spa University.

While at the college, the 21-year-old – who loves working with bright colours and stripes – studied a BTEC Level 3 course in fashion for design and retail.

Rachel said: “It has been a really busy few months but very exciting. I am delighted to be doing so well with my collections and in different competitions.

“I really valued by time at Halesowen as the skills and techniques I learnt and the support I received helped me make the progression to university.”

Rachel, who is also a former pupil of the High Arcal School in Dudley, is confidently applying for jobs for womenswear design, print design or pattern cutting and is looking forward to moving to London to pursue a career in the fashion industry.
