A STUDENT from Halesowen is celebrating after achieving First Class Honours in his university degree.

Sam Parkin has just completed his studies with the University of Worcester, achieving the top grading in his business management qualification.

The 22-year-old said: “After successfully completing the first and second years of university, as well as an undergraduate placement at Jaguar Land Rover, the grades and experience gained, stood me in good stead.

“The final year was a lot tougher than I ever expected, but I managed to achieve my desired classification, of which I am immensely proud of.

“I am happy that my hard-work and determination paid off, and am grateful to all of my peers, colleagues and the university staff who have helped me along the way.”

Following his placement while at university, Sam has secured a place on Jaguar Land Rover’s HR Graduate Scheme, which he starts in September.

The former Windsor High School and Sixth Form pupil said: “The graduate scheme lasts for two years, and alongside my job role, I will be completing a CIPD Level 7 course, so over the next couple of years I plan to gain real-life work experience as well as further CIPD-accredited qualifications.

“Following the completion of the graduate scheme, I will be transitioning into a full-time role, where I hope to gain experience across multiple areas of HR, and in the future, hopefully advance into senior positions within the company.”

Sam was awarded two Academic Scholarship Awards during his time at the University of Worcester in recognition of his achievements in his first and second years.
