A 22-year-old Old Hill man who climbed on top of Tenterfields Primary School roof, has been convicted by Halesowen Magistrates.

Keith McConnell, of Sidaway Street, Old Hill, appeared in court on Wednesday September 5. He was handed a conditional discharge of 12 months, and ordered to pay £70 court costs.

Appearing on Friday August 31: Derek Brennan, aged 20, of The Parade, Cradley Heath, was convicted of driving a vehicle without the appropriate licence. He was fined £125. He was also fined £250 and disqualified from driving for six months for driving without insurance.

The defendant was also fined £125, ordered to pay £15 compensation and £60 court costs for driving for failing to produce a test certificate within a set time.

Jeremy Jones, aged 31, of College Road, Quinton, was convicted of speeding. He was handed three penalty points and ordered to pay a £60 fone.

Steven Maher, aged 34, of Farm Road, Rowley Regis, was convicted of failing to follow requirements of a suspended sentance made on 16 January 2007.

Magistrates added 40 hours unpaid work onto the original sentance, which must be completed within 12 months. He was also ordered to pay £25 to the National Probation Service.

Adam Hartwell, aged 25, of Wrights Lane, Old Hill, was convicted of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour against another person. He was handed a 12 month community order under the supervision of Warley Local Justice Area.

He was also convicted of assault and was handed a 12 month community order to run concurrently with the above. He was also ordered to pay £150 compensation to the victim and £250 court costs.

Majid Javaid, aged 23, of Compton Grove, Halesowen, was convicted of failing to register on the sex offenders register within three days of his conviction on 16 July 2007.

He was handed a 12 month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £70 court costs.

Appearing on Saturday September 1: Nathan Harbutt, aged 30, of New England, Blackheath, was convicted of producing a positive drug sample, and also for failing to attend an initial drug assessment.

He was fined £150, ordered to pay £15 compensation costs and £45 court costs.

Appearing on Monday September 3: Justin Batley, aged 29, of Albrighton Road, Halesowen, was convicted of trespassing and stealing a computer monitor worth £100. He was committed to prison for four weeks to run consecutively to his current sentence.
