SHE was the star of Muriel’s Wedding, appeared alongside Gwyneth Paltrow in Emma and was Oscar nominated for her role opposite Bruce Willis in The Sixth Sense.

So, the shallow pool of Bury Baths is the last place you’d expect to find A-list actress Toni Collette – especially when the pool had to be evacuated after someone weed in the water!

Scenes for Wanderlust, the BBC’s controversial new drama were filmed at the pool last November.

Manager of Castle Leisure Centre, Zilpha Lang, said: “Three of our employed lifeguards were used as extras during filming, two of whom have been seen so far on the show.”

She added: “Staff were astonished at the amount of technology on set and the size of the production team .

“What can only be described as a train track was set up on poolside for the cameras, a huge inflatable light was suspended in the air and cranes were erected outside for additional lighting.

“Staff who were working on the day had the opportunity to observe the filming and chat to the stars.”

Regular users of the pool need not worry about the “weeing” incident. It was done using special effects and served as a plot device for Miss Collette’s character, Joy, to meet her lover in a hydrotherapy class.
