A BURY-born soap star is set to take a leap of faith to raise money for a homeless charity.

Former Hollyoaks actress Jazmine Franks will take part in a skydive in aid of the Manchester-based charity, Barnabus on October 7.

Ms Franks, aged 26, has been working with the charity since 2016, and having recently been named a patron, she has now decided to go the extra mile to champion it.

She explained: “Since becoming a patron, I wanted to do something a little wild for Barnabus, and it was between a skydive or a social media ban – but there’s no way I’d be able to give up social media for a month!

“I see all the hard work that goes into running the drop-in centre and wanted to raise awareness of that.”

Ms Franks made her first on-screen appearance in Hollyoaks as Esther Bloom in 2011, but departed from the programme in April this year.

She was made a patron of the charity in May, and as part of her new role, she helps to raise funds and awareness for the charity.

Barnabus’ Beacon Centre, in Bloom Street, Manchester, has been helping the city’s homeless and vulnerable people for over 25 years. The charity sees more than 600 people a year helped off the streets.
