A NETHERTON man has appeared in court following a violent break-in at an elderly man’s home.
The 85-year-old was grabbed around the throat and pinned to a chair in his West Bromwich home on Friday, September 14.
The offender fled the Devereux Road property after being disturbed but minutes later is understood to have smashed his way inside a conservatory at a neighbouring address but again fled empty handed.
Investigations led to Kevaughn Redden, of Griffin Street, being arrested just before 11pm on Saturday (October 6).
The 22-year-old was later charged with two counts of burglary and possession of an offensive weapon.
Unemployed Redden appeared at Dudley Magistrates Court this morning (Monday) and was remanded in custody to appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court on November 5.
