ADVICE on potential careers is on offer at an event in Oldbury next week.

The 'Careers in Sandwell' session will run from 2-6pm at Sandwell Council House in Freeth Street next Tuesday (October 30).

On offer will be advice and support on finding work, starting an apprenticeship or getting on a training course.

Advisors from the council’s employment and skills team, Connexions and Sandwell Adult and Family Learning will be on hand to provide information about apprenticeships available with the council, jobs with local employers and training courses to help people into work.

All ages are welcome at the event and there is no need to reserve a place as people can just turn up on the day.

Sandwell Council's cabinet member for children's services, Councillor Simon Hackett, said: "Whether you've not long left school or planning what to do after your A-Levels or GCSEs next year, if you're unemployed or if you're in a job and you want to retrain, our staff will be able to advise you on the help and support available.

"The event is open to anyone of any age, not just young people. here's also a chance to find out more about apprenticeships with the council."

Sandwell Council's cabinet member for regeneration and economy,Councillor Paul Moore, added: ""We run these events several times a year and they are very popular.

"We see people from a range of age groups and backgrounds - from people in their 40s and 50s fancying a career change to teenagers who are considering an apprenticeship. It's definitely worth people coming along."
