BLACK Country entertainer Jonny Cole is driving home for Christmas after completing a mini-tour of Britain.

In his trusty camper van Jonny drove to perform gigs as far afield as Wrexham, Manchester, Liverpool and Brighton where he treated audiences to his Black Country comedy routines and reworkings of well-known songs.

Now he is set to be back on familiar territory with a Christmas special at the Robin 2 at Bilston on December 6 with his band The Flat Pint of Mild.

Jonny admits he took a gamble on presenting his distinctive brand of humour to a wider audience but was amazed at how well it made the journey.

He said: "It’s been great fun getting out of town. I was pleasantly surprised by how well the act has travelled.

“I had to tone down my accent a bit in places and I found out the hard way that the word wench is extremely offensive in some parts of the country but other than that, it was sound.

"Now I can’t wait to get back to the Black Country for the Christmas show. I still believe that Black Country people have the best sense of humour in the world and really know how to have a good time.

“When The Flat Pint of Mild played at the Robin 2 back in July we had over 400 folks in and we had an absolute blast. We played loads of new tracks. This one is a Christmas special so we will be hoping to put a twist on a few seasonal classics.

“We are revealing a new member of the band too, a keyboard player, Dan Healey. He’s played with the Drifters, ZZ Top and Lynyrd Skynyrd and he’s from Tipton so he'll do for me!"
