THE festive spirit continues to spread around the borough, as the community in Brierley Hill came together to enjoy the Christmas lights switch on.

Revellers enjoyed children's rides and live entertainment on November 30, which also saw Santa pay a visit to the Brierley Hill market grotto.

The Mayor of Dudley officially turned the lights on, alongside competition winner Kelly Pooler and her young children, Casey and Callum.

Caroline Martin from WM and Father Christmas with his elves were also on stage for the switch on.

Councillor Alan Taylor, the Mayor of Dudley, said: "I was delighted to be able to switch on the Christmas lights in Brierley Hill this evening and to celebrate the start of Christmas with the town.

"The town had a lovely atmosphere and I am sure the event was a welcome boost to traders and shoppers in Brierley Hill.”

Free parking was available on the night and will also be available to shoppers on December 15 and 22.
