A CANNABIS farm was discovered in a Dudley house when police arrived to investigate a report of a burglary.

Police discovered a cannabis set-up in a property on Priory Road which included 40 small to medium plants during the early house of January 14.

A 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and he was also discovered to be keeping a large quantity of cannabis in a van outside the house.

Officers shut down the farm and the plants will be destroyed.

A police spokesperson said: "Police have arrested a 38-year-old man on suspicion of cultivating cannabis after receiving a call reporting suspicious behaviour at a property on Priory Road, Dudley just before 1am on Monday 14 January. Upon arrival, officers found a man in possession of a large quantity of cannabis plants in a van parked outside the house.

"A search of the house uncovered a cannabis growth set up and a further 40 small to medium plants.

"It is believed two men left the scene and officers are keen to hear from anyone who has any information. Enquiries continue and the man remains in police custody.
