FAIRFIELD Villa's fantastic seven match winning spree in Total Motion Midland League Two came to an abrupt halt when losing out 2-1 to Moors Academy.

Villa were missing their prolific 46-goal strike partnership of Alfie Bloomer and Connor Collins, but that didn't stop them from taking the lead through Ellis Blakemore.

Moors managed to level on the stroke of half time through Aman Khoshkhoo who then added a second after the break.

The match took place on Boldmere St Michael's 3G pitch and Villa spokesman Paul Oakes said: "It was a really good game but the fact we had both Alfie and Connor unavailable didn't help.

"Alfie was on a coaching course while Connor is suffering with a hamstring problem and could well miss the next three weeks.

"The fact Moors scored just before half time gave them the ascendancy but it took two brilliant saves from the Moors goalkeeper to stop us from winning the game.

"We've only got seven league games left but if we can manage to pick up just two more wins, it will be our best season in years."

Despite the defeat, Villa remain joint third, five points ahead of fifth-placed Moors, who have a couple of games in hand.

Villa visit Earlswood Town this Saturday in a Midland League match.
