YOUNG musicians from one of the country’s top conservatoires will be performing at a Kingswinford church next month.

Fourth year students from The Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester will present An Evening of British Chamber Music on Tuesday March 12 at St Mary’s Church which will include a new, specially commissioned piece.

Baritone Joe Ashmore will be joined by The Marvolo Quartet on strings for an evening of music from composers such as Finzi, Elgar and Britten.

They will also perform a new composition called Divinin - featuring the words of poet Glyn Edwards and set to music by composer Ollie Lambert, who was deputy head chorister at Canterbury Cathedral and has written for The BBC Singers, English Chamber Orchestra and Canterbury Cathedral Choir.

Joe Ashmore has previously worked with Ollie, debuting one of his compositions at a Day of Song in Manchester.

He has also appeared in several operas and performed in places as diverse as the Genting Arena in Birmingham and the island of Arran.

The Marvolo Quartet have built a reputation as an innovative string quartet since meeting and forming in Manchester, where they regularly hold recitals.

The concert is also being staged at St Chrysostom’s Church in Manchester and is a final-year degree project for Joe, from Kingswinford.

Tickets for the event cost £6 and are available from www.joeashmorebaritone.com or on the door. The concert starts at 7.30pm.
