A ROWLEY Regis man had to be taken to hospital with serious burns to his hands after attempting to tackle a pan fire himself.
The 29-year-old man suffered 15% burns to both hands during the incident at house in Reservoir Road.
Fire crews from Oldbury and Haden Cross attended the incident, which happened at around 7pm on Tuesday, March 12.
The man's actions led firefighters to issue a warning to others.
West Midlands Fire tweeted: "Never try to tackle a fire yourself. Leave it to the experts.
"If you see a fire GET OUT, STAY OUT, and call 999. Always have an escape plan."
A West Midlands Ambulance spokesperson added: "We sent one ambulance to the scene and took a male patient to Sandwell Hospital for further assessment."
