MORE than 60 guests answered the bugle call to a special breakfast aimed at increasing support for the Armed Forces.

The Bugle Breakfast was held at Hereford Army Reserve Centre and was a joint event between the military and local business.

It was organised by West Midland Reserve Forces & Cadets Association (West Midland RFCA), Hereford and Worcester Chamber of Commerce, and The Rifles battalion based at Suvla Barracks in Hereford.

Two business that have been working with RFCA put pen to paper and signed up to the Armed Forces Covenant in front of the many businesses in attendance.

The Covenant is a promise by the nation that those who serve or who have served in the armed forces, and their families, are treated fairly.

The two signatures came from the Chamber of Commerce and the Royal National College for the Blind in Hereford.

Lucy Proctor, the college's Charity Chief Executive, said: “We believe that we have a duty to stand side by side with those that serve our country, and their families, who make many sacrifices on our behalf. We are fortunate enough to have two Reservists working at the College and know first-hand the skill and dedication they bring to their roles.”

As well as a buffet breakfast prepared by The Rifles chefs, guests got a lesson in the many different bugle calls by the Bugle Major and an insight into the history of the bugle call by Andy Taylor, Rifles County Colonel.
