TWO artists from Quinton and one from Oldbury hope to wow the judges in the grand final of one of the country's longest-running talent competitions this weekend.

Oldbury's Emily Badger and Quinton pair Tia Louise and Holly May Coleman have reached the 'Search for a Star' final being held in Longbridge this Saturday.

Pre-dating the likes of X-Factor and Britain's Got Talent, the 'Search For A Star' contest was founded back in the 1980s.

The competition is open to entrants nationwide but all of this year's finalists - who are competing for a winner's cheque of £2,000 - come from across the Midlands.

Longbridge's own Charley Thompson will be the hometown favourite while Jasmine Rawlins, from West Heath, is another local star.

Keri Hoffman, from Hereford, Worcester's Sadie Marie, Weoley Castle's Sean Duggan and Willenhall's Champagne Shirley complete the line-up.

The final takes place this Saturday (April 6) at Austin Sports and Social Club on Tessall Lane, Longbridge, starting at 7.30pm.

Tickets for the three-hour final show cost from £6 - call Tony Maslen on 0121 457 9308 for more information.
