A MAN assaulted a police officer by kicking him in the head with a steel toe capped boot, Dudley Magistrates's Court has heard.

James Heeney, aged 26, of Beeches Road, Oldbury, pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer by kicking him in the head with a steel toe capped boot. He received a six month sentence suspended for 12 months.

The following cases were also heard at Dudley Magistrate's Court last week.

Dennis McGrainor, aged 37, of South Road, Hockley, Birmingham, pleaded guilty to stealing £14.15 worth of goods of Lidl and possessing cannabis. He was ordered to pay fines, costs and surcharges totalling £215.

Christopher Evans, aged 50, of Halesowen Road, Cradley Heath, pleaded guilty to driving over the alcohol limit with 104 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. He received a Community Order and must pay £220 in costs and surcharges. He also faces a 24 month disqualification from holding a driving a licence.

Damon Sehra, aged 22, of Arden Road, Smethwick, pleaded guilty to stealing biscuits and vodka worth £21.46 from Nisa and stealing £7.98 worth of wine and beer from News Stop. He was ordered to pay £17 compensation, a £20 surcharge and £135 costs. He also received a conditional discharge for 12 months.

Shane Churchill, aged 29, of Stourbridge Road, Brierley Hill, pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis. He received an 18 month conditional discharge and was ordered to pay £185 in costs and and a £20 surcharge.

Liam Emms, aged 24, of Grace Road, Tipton, pleaded guilty to damaging a garden gate and light without lawful excuse and damaging a letter box. He also pleaded guilty to using threatening or abusive words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress. The offence was found to be racially aggravated. He received a community order which includes a curfew and he was given a restraining order. He also received a £73 fine.

Shawn Murray, aged 32, of Moorlands Court, Rowley Regis, pleaded guilty to driving over the limit of a controlled drug. He was ordered to pay a fine and surcharge totalling £150 and is disqualified from holding a driving licence for 12 months.

Andrew Huxley, aged 46, of Halesowen Road, Cradley Heath, pleaded guilty to stealing £80 worth of Lenor Unstoppable from the Co-Op and was found guilty of possessing a Stanley knife in a public place. He received a 26 week prison sentence suspended for 24 months. He was also ordered to pay a £115 surcharge.
