A KINGSWINFORD man has pleaded guilty to stealing bottles of champagne in a spree across Wordsley, Dudley Magistrate's Court has heard.

Darren Whitehouse, aged 38, of Cot Lane, Kingswinford, pleaded guilty to stealing two bottles of Prosecco worth £70 from the Co-Op in Wordsley and two bottles of champagne worth £37 from the Spar in Wordsley. He received a six week prison sentence suspended for 12 months and was ordered to pay compensation totalling £107.

The following cases were also heard at Dudley Magistrate's Court last week.

Samantha James, aged 29, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to stealing steaks, bacon, coffee and chocolates worth £160 from Co-Op in Stourbridge. She was jailed for eight weeks due to disregarding court orders and a record of previous offending. She was also ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Benjamin Vance, aged 37, of no fixed address, also pleaded guilty to stealing steaks, bacon, coffee and chocolates worth £160 from Co-Op in Stourbridge. He received an eight week prison sentence due to disregarding court orders and was also ordered to pay a £115 surcharge.

Shawan Hassan, aged 35, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to stealing £82.45 worth of goods from Tesco at Burntree; possessing a Stanley knife in a public place and harassing a police officer. He was jailed for 12 weeks due to breaking a community order and was ordered to pay £100 compensation and a £115 surcharge.

Gionvanni Campbell, aged 20, of Reservoir Road, Blackheath, pleaded guilty to possessing 12 wraps of cannabis. He was fined £110 and was also ordered to pay a £30 victim surcharge and £185 costs.

Matthew Walker, aged 28, of Lawnsdown Road, Dudley, pleaded guilty to driving over the legal alcohol limit. He was fined £300 and must also pay a £30 surcharge and £135 costs. He was also disqualified from holding a driving licence for 16 months.

Joshua Khalique, aged 18, of Dyson Close, Bentley, pleaded guilty to causing £900 of damage to property in Lye. He was ordered to pay compensation and costs totalling £1,035.

Mark Hewitt, aged 38, of Manor Lane, Stourbridge, pleaded guilty to assaulting a security officer. He was jailed for four weeks and was made subject to a restraining order. He was also ordered to pay a surcharge and costs totalling £465.

Andrew Holmes, aged 55, of Caroline Street, Dudley, pleading guilty to threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour and possessing cannabis. He received a community order and was ordered to pay a £100 fine, an £85 victim surcharge and £130 costs.

Alan Buckingham, aged 33, of King Street, Lye, pleaded guilty to driving without insurance; failing to stop a vehicle when requested by a constable in uniform; driving without a licence and stealing £292.06 worth of Vax Cleaner from B&M in Merry Hill. He was ordered to pay fines, surcharges and compensation totalling £442.06.
